Our first adventure outside of Vicenza was a day trip to the lovely town of Bolzano. We went on New Year's eve because one of Dallin's best friends is a professional runner and was running in a race up there. The town is absolutely beautiful, nestled in the Dolomites. The town actually used to be a part of Austria, so pretty much everyone speaks German there. All of the signs are in German and Italian, and all of the architecture has a very Bavarian influence.
Me in Bolzano. It was quite chilly.
Inside of the Cathedral. Very different from the elaborately decorated Cathedrals and Basilicas in the Veneto region from the Italian Renaissance.
The Christmas decorations were still up. So pretty.
Dallin and his friend, Scott Bauhs, after the race. We liked these police guys a lot. They looked like Robin Hood with the feathers in their hats.
